ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401Q - No Power

This ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401Q came in completely dead with a no power issue—no lights, no fan spin, nothing at all. After ruling out the charger and basic power input problems, it was clear this was a motherboard-level issue, something we see fairly often on high-performance gaming laptops.

Once the laptop was opened up, the cause became obvious. The factory liquid metal thermal compound had leaked past its barrier and spread on the CPU area, creating a short circuit. Liquid metal works great for cooling, but when it moves where it shouldn’t, it can instantly shut a laptop down.

We carefully cleaned and neutralized the liquid metal, reinforced insulation around the CPU, and reapplied proper thermal compound before reassembling and testing the system. The G14 powered back on normally and ran stable, saving the motherboard and getting the laptop back to life without costly replacement.
